Regular Inspections & Upkeep
Replace/ Clean the Air Filter Regularly
Dirty filters make your system work harder because of the restricted airflow, which is turn costs you more money and reduces the life of your blower motor, coils and other parts. Replace your filter at least every 3 months, and more frequently if there are people with allergies or pets in the home. This also helps with improving air quality and keeping your home/ duct system clean! |
Install a Programmable Thermostat
Bryant's Housewise thermostat has occupancy sensing capabilities, which can go from comfort to energy-efficient system settings. Setting a schedule helps to cut down on heating/cooling costs when no one is home; some smart thermostats let you control your home's HVAC system from your smartphone so that your house is nice and comfortable at the click of a button! |

Keep Debris Away from Outside Unit
Two foot rule: Keep all shrubs and plants at least 2 feet away from your air conditioner or heat pump. Leaves and debris can build up on the outside of the unit and restrict airflow. Make this part of your spring maintenance checklist, or call us and get signed up for a service maintenance agreement, where we will wash out the unit and do a thorough inspection. |
Keep Vents Open
Closing too many vents in your home may restrict airflow to your system.
Keeping at least 80% of your vents open, ensures proper air flow to your system, keeping your system running efficiently and air flowing properly throughout your home.

Ceiling Fans & Air Distribution
During the summer keep your ceiling fans running counterclockwise, pulling the warm air up making it feel cooler. During the winter keep your ceiling fans running clockwise, forcing warm air down from the ceiling. Or in the late summer/ early fall when the temp is just right, open the windows and turn the furnace fan on to help distribute air without heating or cooling it. |
